The Internet bidding will close at noon on Thursday, June 1. Bidding will resume at the silent auction at the Friday evening cocktail hour, but you must be present in person to bid. If you are not able to come to the muster and have submitted a maximum bid, we will update the bids at the silent auction to reflect your maximum bid. If you are unable to attend the muster, you can still win by sending a maximum amount to bid.
A reserve price has been set on the art. We will let you know if your bid has met the reserve price. If the highest bid is not greater then the reserve price the painting will not be sold.
The current bid is the amount you want to bid right now, and the maximum bid is the most that you are willing to bid. For example, if you bid $100 dollars now, and a maximum of $300, and while at the cocktail party, someone bids $299, your maximum bid of $300 will win the painting. If someone bids $301, then you will lose.
The Gettysburg Discussion Group will pay all shipping and handling for the painting

The West Point Guards, Company D of the 4th Georgia Infantry, hailed from Troop County Georgia. The regiment was mustered into Confederate service in Augusta in April of 1861 and moved north to join Walkers Brigade of the department of North Carolina. The 4th Georgia first saw the elephant on June 15th 1862 where it participated in a small skirmish with Federal forces near Seven Pines Virginia. The regiment then participated in almost all of the major battles from the Seven Days battles to Appomattox Court House. The original term of service for this unit was only one year but most of the men re-enlisted for the duration of the war. The Augusta Daily Constitutional and Sentinel described the uniforms worn by the company - "Their suit is gray - of Roswell Manufacture, Black stripe on the pants, Gray cloth caps".4th Georgia Infantry - Company D
