Kaw's Point

Passed a sand bar, where our tow rope broke twice, & with great exertions we rowed around it and
Came & Camped in the Point above the Kansas River. Clark's Journal, July 4, 1804

Kaw's Point  in Wyandotte County is where the Corps of Discovery spent more time than anywhere else in the area.  Plans to develop this site for educational visits are under way.  Until those are completed, the best way to "visit" Kaw's Point  is to view it from Case Park on the Missouri side.

This page offers several representation of the area, including a map by Clark.  Students can see the dramatic change in the area since Clark drew his map.
